How to human and where did you start.

By all means be a unique person

That quirky thing you do that makes you, you. Being who you truly are can be defined best by an Eastern philosophy I have come to believe in. It might seems that an outsider is making a judgement call but before we get there consider the following when next you look in the mirror.

In Japanese culture, they say you have three faces. The first face, you show to the world. The second face, you show to close friends and family. The third face, you show to no one. The third face is also the person you truly are. Taking this philosophy into consideration, you cant really show your third face to anyone. Your second face to some and your third face to all. The only thing we can really do is to better understand ourselves first, before sharing with everyone else.

What you need to remember before you start "being yourself" is that you are above all a human first. Contrary to popular belief we are all flawed. As a species we are at the dawn off grasping the potential we have for unlimited strength, but simultaneously weak, emotional and confused creatures. These emotions arise from many factors. I will list only three below.

1. "Bloodline"
It all starts with your heritage, some call it bloodline. There are certain evolutionary traits carried down in your genes that dictates not who you become but a part of your development. This means that your body will develop in a certain way. Biochemistry will be different within individuals and varying levels of hormones will influence physical development and add certain personality traits. As a example I will use the most commonly discussed hormones. Testosterone and Estrogen. Regardless of your gender these hormones add certain traits that will affect your development. Higher levels of testosterone will add male characteristics and higher levels of estrogen will add female characteristics. This determines a part of who you will become and currently are.

2. "Status"
Then we get sociology, the social group that you are born into. Your family and the values your are raised with. Family values come from your religion or ancestral beliefs. Then there are factors like economic status and this in turn dictates your demographic, the area or community you are raised in. The school you attend, the facilities you use and friends you make.

3. "Mentality"
The information processing behind being who you are. Information is taken in by our senses, sent to the processing organ our brain via a communications channel. The information gets processed into an action and sent back to the relevant areas via the communications channel. This all happens in the speed of an eye blink while ducking away from an flying object. All our senses give us input to interact with our environment. Lets say somewhere along the line of communication there is a problem, does your experience and development change? Yes, it does.

Human senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. Keep in mind that these are only five common senses among many we have. Now lets say something is wrong with one of these senses would your experience and development be different, yes. Our ability or lack thereof to process information changes who we are.

Our information processing ability is our window to the world and as much as it helps us it can also count against us. Below are listen three examples of how we can be influenced by our ability to process information and the role our emotions play.
  1. Information overload - We have access to the world at our finger tips. You can travel anywhere, see anything and be anyone. All this without leaving the comfort of your living room. The age of technology has given us unlimited access to information. The information is provided by a click of a button and does not discriminate between good and bad. Search engines are coded to filter your search results by preference and popularity. This forms a base for escalation of information type. If you are in a good mood, your search information will be of a positive nature and escalated accordingly. The same it true for the opposite. If in a bad mood your search information will be negative and escalated accordingly. Leading to harmful information that could change your personality if pursued.
  2. Media - We are bombarded everyday by someone telling us who to be, how to act and how to feel. Media is controlled by your local government and large corporations. I like to use the word "consortium" as it gives the correct feel to the aforementioned bodies. The consortium do not have your best interest at hart. They have made a science out of  manipulating you. With control and financial gain at the helm, their biggest success is making you believe that people see you in a certain way.
  3. Nutrition - I have read many books and spent a fair amount of time on experimenting with diet and its effect on emotions. As you consume certain food types your biochemistry changes. This change leads to the production of certain hormones witch in turn dictates your emotions. There are many diets out there. All promising weight loss but little to none with the promise of a clear mind.
Conclusion

Now look in the mirror and ask yourself who you are. Taking the limited variables I have added into consideration it does become a complex situation. Do not fair, lets change your mind in one sentence.

"You now understand how you are, now decide who you are"

"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive." - Elbert Hubbard
